Introduction:

Lectors are called to proclaim the Word of God at Mass. The lector is the community’s storyteller reminding us of our relationship to one another and to God. The lector’s ministry is to serve the people of God.

Eligibility:

Lectors are men, women or youth from our parish who desire to proclaim the Word of God to our community. There are no age limits.

The Lector Must Be Willing To:

  • Attend initial training and orientation.
  • Study the readings prayerfully in advance of Mass.
  • Practice proclaiming the readings out loud before each assigned reading time.
  • Practice using specific techniques helpful in proclaiming the Word.
  • Continue attending workshops for lectors and continue growth in this ministry.

Scheduling:

Lectors are scheduled on a rotating basis. Two lectors are scheduled for each weekend Mass, and one is scheduled for each weekday Mass.
